An anon asked me for Tiger & Bunny headcanons, which filled me with no small amount of glee. Originally posted to Tumblr here.
Anonymous asked: Do you have any Tiger and Bunny headcanons? I've seen so few because the fandom is so small. Compared to others at least. You, a sweet unsuspecting anon: Do you have any Tiger & Bunny headcanons?
Me, who has spent at least 75% of her waking moments since October 2017 thinking about these characters: …a few, yes.
Let’s see how long this gets, shall we? XD (Also, you can play “spot the headcanon M has actually put into a fic!”)
Answer: apparently it got to be over 1000 words so I’m going to put some of it under a read more and stop there for the time being. XD
FAIR WARNING for the people who haven’t seen the whole series: the last two headcanons contain spoilers, one of which is pretty significant. (I’ve marked them.)
Anywhoozle, here they are:
- Barnaby is gay and/or grey-ace. I’m not entirely sure how you would classify it but I feel like he’s exclusively attracted to men but doesn’t experience sexual attraction much. It’s one of the many, many reasons Kotetsu surprises him (or rather, he’s surprised that he’s attracted to Kotetsu).
- Kotetsu is demisexual, but it takes him awhile to figure out that he’s attracted to Barnaby because he seriously never expected to find that again, and it’s also different from what he felt before with Tomoe.
- Barnaby is kind of terrible at kissing because he’s never done anything before he and Kotetsu get together. He gets better quickly because he’s a fast learner, but he hates not being perfect at something on the first try. Kotetsu thinks it’s hilarious (not that Barnaby’s bad at kissing, but that he’s so ticked about not being good at it right off the bat), but he has absolutely zero problems with helping Barnaby practice.
- Kotetsu starts learning how to cook something other than fried rice because he wants to make some of Barnaby’s favorite foods.
- Barnaby gets vaguely irritated whenever anyone else calls Kotetsu “old man.” (That’s his old man, thank you very much.)
- Kotetsu is a cuddly drunk. He’s touchy-feely normally, but if he’s been drinking? God help the person who’s standing closest to him, which is usually Barnaby. (More than once, he’s had Antonio drive him to Barnaby’s apartment so Kotetsu can give him a hug good night.)
- Kaede and Barnaby get along fabulously, and Kotetsu is simultaneously relieved (because they’re the two most important people in his life, and he wants them to get along) and terrified (because they will 100% gang up on him and his ability to say no to both of them in those situations is about zero).
- Barnaby is the one who has to ask Kotetsu out, because though Kotetsu starts trying to clumsily court him, it never occurs to him that Barnaby reciprocates his feelings and so he’ll never actually make a move. It takes Barnaby longer than he would care to admit to figure this out.
- Barnaby doesn’t know how to tie a tie. Kotetsu is utterly appalled to learn this and ties his ties for him, all the while ranting about how Barnaby needs to learn to do it for himself. Barnaby knows how to tie it properly after about the third time of watching Kotetsu do it, but continues to pretend he doesn’t because he likes Kotetsu tying it for him. (And although Kotetsu grumbles, he likes tying them for Barnaby as well.)
