Yes, I'm a little late on day 8. It's okay! XD
In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
This gets harder every time I have to do it because I've inevitably added at least a dozen new fics to choose from. Maybe in future years I'll find ways of limiting myself so I'm not digging back through 300+ fics on AO3, but for now, I'll grab a handful that I've recced before:
The Bite of Marmora (Voltron, Shiro/Keith) - Awkward conversations are a goldmine for hilarity, and I had a blast writing the misunderstanding between Keith and Kolivan with regards to Keith’s relationship with Shiro. Like, I did not expect to like a silly little fic written off a prompt for a love bite as much as I did, but I loved it. And not to mention this: “We could have a little fight to the death. I mean, Lance did insult my cultural expression of love and commitment to you.” is probably one of the funniest lines I’ve ever written.
The Circus at the End of the World (Teen Wolf, Stiles/Derek) - I’ve mentioned a billion times how hard this one was to write, but one of the reasons I persisted even when it was rough was because I just loved the world and the story so much. And it’s weird, because it’s normally not a setting I would write. I tend to avoid post-apocalyptic stuff for a variety of reasons, but with this one, I put it far enough after the apocalypse that civilization would’ve recovered to a point. Plus, found families are one of my greatest loves, and while I occasionally regretted having as many characters in the pack as I do here for writing logistic reasons (oh my God, the pack meeting scenes were SO HARD because SO MANY PEOPLE), making the core of theme of the story Stiles discovering a new home where he can belong was just one of the best things.
Be My Fake Date—No, Not You! (Voltron, Shiro/Keith & Teen Wolf, Stiles/Derek) - This was an auction fic, and since
The Great Wakandan Prank War (MCU, Sam/Bucky) - I don’t know what it was about Captain America: Civil War, but I came out of it wanting about 100,000x more SamBucky than I got. The idea of them engaging in a prank war post-CA:CW was just too delightful to pass up, and I ended up having a lot of fun with it. NGL, the mental image of them chasing each other around the palace grounds in Wakanda while the other Avengers quietly place bets on how this is going to end STILL cracks me up.
A Thousand Moments (Tiger & Bunny, Barnaby/Kotetsu) - I started writing this fic within, oh, 48 hours of finishing the second season and what I thought would be 3000 words of hurt/comfort ended up being more than 10k. I don’t know how many times I reread and revised it before finally posting at the beginning of January, partly because I was paranoid about getting Barnaby’s voice just right and partly because I just really loved it. (I was terrified no one else would, but I did.) Do you guys know that feeling when you want a very particular story, so you write it yourself and when you’re finally done, you’re just like “ah, yes, this is exactly what I was looking for?” That was me with this fic.
Herbert Knows Best (Tiger & Bunny, Barnaby/Kotetsu) - My most recent fic, and another soulmate AU involving one of my favorite tropes: the Soulmate Goose of Enforcement. The idea of Barnaby—the most popular of the heroes, who's generally very aloof and utterly unflappable—being attacked by a goose was too entertaining to pass up, and I had an absolute blast writing it. And I love writing fics that start out hilarious and cracky and end with loads of feels.
