If you want to do the meme, feel free to grab the questions and play along!
What made you start writing fanfic?
Way, way back when I was a wee M (more than 20 years ago), I started writing fic because I wanted Luke Skywalker to have a girlfriend. I started posting fic because I found out Linden Ashby played both Sheriff Stilinski in Teen Wolf AND Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat and I just had to write a fic where Stiles found out that his dad was Johnny Cage. And then my friends loved it and told me to post it.
If you want a much longer, more rambly version of my descent into fandom, the whole story is over on Tumblr here.
Which of your own fanfics have you reread the most?
Oh, gosh, I don't even know. I've reread most of them several times, although I tend to reread the ones I do for prompt fills less than ones I wrote as gifts or wrote for myself. But here are a few I'm reasonably sure I've reread more than others:
A Desperate Arrangement (Sterek)
A Wild Heart's Desire (Sterek)
The Circus at the End of the World (Sterek)
A Thousand Moments (Tiger & Bunny)
When I'm With You (Tiger & Bunny)
Yes, Sir (Voltron: Legendary Defender)
Describe the differences between your first fanfic and your most recent fanfic.
Considering my first fanfic was a gen fic with Stiles and Sheriff Stilinski and family secrets and my most recent one is an established relationship "kissing under the mistletoe" fic between Barnaby and Kotetsu, I'd say the answer to that question is "the only thing they have in common is they are both fanfics written using words."
Do you think your style has changed over time? How so?
Oh, I'm sure that it has, but I doubt I could pinpoint where and how. I've gotten better at writing description and emotion, I can tell you that much, but I still gravitate toward what the Writing Excuses podcasters call "windowpane writing." I'm going to do my best to tell the story clearly, and not call attention to the writing itself.
You've posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you'd written it?
Hand to God, this actually happened with the Sterek Shelter event in the summer of 2016. All the fanworks were posted anonymously and I hadn't spoken to a single person outside my team about my fic. Every single one of my friends guessed which one was mine because it opened with an action scene. XD (The fic in question: Forging Bonds.)
Name three stories you found easy to write.
A Desperate Arrangement - I have never written, edited, and posted anything that long in under a year before and I probably never will again.
And They Don't Have a Clue (Who?) - I wrote this over my LUNCH BREAK. I've never done that before, but once I had the image in my head (specifically, of Black locking Keith and Shiro in her cockpit and playing "Can You Feel The Love Tonight"), it just came pouring out.
Vreldmant - I discovered the existence of the Soulmate Goose of Enforcement and I have never had the desire to write something so much oh my God. Once I had the mental image of Galra having a soulmate goose and Keith getting chased by said goose, this one went like a breeze.
Name three stories you found difficult to write.
To See With Eyes Unclouded - The time crunch I was on with this one was what made it difficult to write. 50,000 words written and edited between June and August 2015. I should NOT have signed up to do two fics for that RBB.
The Circus at the End of the World - ADA took me a year to write, edit, and post, while Circus took me TWO and it's nearly 25,000 words shorter. This is what happens when you're an outliner who doesn't outline, kids.
A Thousand Moments - The first couple of fics I write for a new fandom are always hard because I'm worried about getting the character voices right, and this one was even harder than usual because I've only watched the subtitled series, so I was trying to write in English characters I'd only actually heard in Japanese. GOOD TIMES. (Apparently I did okay with it, but damn, getting to that point was hard.)
What's your ratio of hits to kudos?
For all 300+ of my fics, I have 211,633 kudos and 2,062,394 hits, which is a ratio of about 10%.
What do your fic bookmarks say about you?
That I always forget to bookmark fics I want to keep track of, considering I only have 141 bookmarked and I know I have WAY more than that I've read. XD
What's a theme that keeps coming up in your writing?
Found families. Pretty much all of my long!fics involve this trope to some extent, mostly because I love this trope with all my heart and I consistently fall in love with shows/stories where it's prominent, which means I get involved in fandoms where it's prominent.
What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing?
1) Enemies to reluctant allies to mutual seemingly unrequited pining to lovers.
2) Guys and girls being completely platonic best friends.
3) Did I mention found families? Because yeah. That too.
For E-rated fic, what are some things your characters keep doing?
Aside from moaning, switching between who tops and who bottoms.
Name three favorite characters to write.
Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf)
Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Tiger & Bunny)
Takashi "Shiro" Shirogane (Voltron: Legendary Defender)
You're applying for the fanfic writer of the year award. What five fanfics do you put in your portfolio?
A Desperate Arrangement
The Circus at the End of the World
A Thousand Moments
Yes, Sir
A Wild Heart's Desire
