Three Sentence Ficathon 2021 - Roundup 3

This week's roundup post is admittedly much shorter than usual; I was quite literally snowed under for most of the week and my brain was more occupied with stuff like "are our pipes going to freeze if I only leave two faucets dripping" and "how quickly can I cook dinner in case we lose power."

Thankfully, neither of those things happened, and I'm back to writing! At least a little bit. XD

Just five fandoms in this post, with eight fics.

Good Omens

Anathema/Newt, Agnes
Prompt: Good Omens, any, a baby

Anathema lay on the bed, exhausted from far too many hours of labor; Newt stood beside her, holding a small squalling infant with a look on his face somewhere between awed, fond, and terrified.

"I know we talked about it," he said quietly, "but I was thinking...maybe we ought to call her Agnes. If that's all right with you."

Anathema smiled up at him; with a name like that, their daughter would undoubtedly cause trouble—then again, given her parents, she'd be causing trouble no matter what her name ended up being. "Yeah. I'm okay with that."

Gargoyles

Gen, Slang
Prompt: any, any, "talk to the hand"

Angela frowned. "But I don't understand. Hands cannot talk."

"It's slang," Lexington explained. "It just means that you're don't want to talk to someone anymore because they're being rude or frustrating or something. So you tell them to talk to your hand instead. Get it?"

"I suppose," Angela said, "but if I did not want to talk to someone, I would just introduce them to my tail instead."

Lexington laughed. "Too bad humans don't have them. 'Talk to the tail' has a nice ring to it."

Gen, Green Beans
Prompt: any, any, Are ya gonna eat that?

"Alex!"

Alex froze with his hand under the table and plastered the most wide-eyed, innocent look on his face that he could muster at his parents. "What?"

Mom raised an eyebrow at him, with a look on her fact that said she absolutely did not buy his innocent eyes. "Stop sneaking your green beans to Bronx."

"But I'm not going to eat the green beans. And I'm not supposed to waste food," Alex said. "And Bronx is hungry."

"Bronx has six gargoyles and Elisa who feed him on a regular basis," Dad said. "I think he'll live without your green beans."

Leverage

Parker/Eliot/Hardison, Literal
Prompt: any, any, world's smallest violin

"You've got to be kidding me," Hardison said.

Eliot groaned. "It's supposed to be a figure of speech, Parker."

Parker was grinning like a maniac. "Not anymore. Now come on. Let's go steal the world's smallest violin!"

Parker/Eliot/Hardison, Snickerdoodles
Prompt: Any, any, nutmeg and cinnamon

Parker pops up behind him without any warning. "What are you making?"

Eliot only flinches a little bit; he's sadly gotten used to her showing up like this. "Dammit, Parker, don't sneak up on me like that." He tosses a teaspoon of cinnamon into the bowl of flour, followed by ginger and nutmeg. "And I'm making pumpkin snickerdoodles."

"Oooo." Parker's eyes light up. "For me and Hardison?"

Eliot lightly elbows her out of his way. "Who else?" He starts whisking together the dry ingredients, and then pauses and holds out the bowl. "Want to help?"

Parker gleefully grabs it and takes over the whisking.

Tiger & Bunny

Gen, Like Father Like Daughter
Prompt: Any, any, relief

Hauling people out of the derailed train felt like it took an eternity, but it couldn't have been more than a minute since Kotetsu's power didn't last any longer than that. He didn't stop even after it ran out, although he moved a lot more carefully; Bunny would never forgive him if he got himself hurt or killed in this situation.

But he couldn't stop until everyone was out.

Couldn't stop until he found Kaede.

But she wasn't in any of the cars he checked, and he had a horrible, stomach-churning flashback to the skating rink, when he'd been too slow to save her from the falling debris and the fact that Bunny hadn't been was the only reason she was still here.

Kotetsu climbed out of another car and heard "Dad!" from somewhere behind him.

He whirled around and spotted Kaede, standing next to Bunny and waving frantically.

"Kaede!"

Kotetsu bolted for them and swept her up in a hug, and did his best not to crush her with the sheer force of his relief. "You're okay, how did you—"

Kaede hugged him back fiercely. "I had the Hundred Power. You were the last NEXT I touched." She pulled back and smiled at him, and her eyes were wet. "I got everybody in my car out."

"You did?" Kotetsu had to wipe his own eyes; they were leaking relief and pride everywhere. "Heh. That's my girl."

Bunny touched his shoulder and Kotetsu stood up to hug both him and Kaede, absurdly grateful that his family was safe and sound.

Barnaby/Kotetsu, Naptime
Prompt: Any, any/any, forehead kisses

Barnaby found Kotetsu asleep on the couch; it looked as though he'd sat down to take off his shoes and then had just fallen over onto the nearest soft surface. Not that Barnaby could blame him; they'd been out all night chasing criminals across the city and had just gotten back to their apartment a few hours before dawn.

He grabbed a blanket off the back of the couch and tucked it around Kotetsu, then kissed his forehead gently.

"I'd better not hear you complain about your back when you wake up, old man," Barnaby said quietly, and then went to make them dinner.

Castlevania

Trevor/Alucard, Unexpected
Prompt: Any, any/any, touch-starved character gets hugs

Trevor choked on nothing at the unexpected touch. "What the hell are you doing?"

"It's called a hug, Belmont," Alucard said dryly. "I was under the impression that you were at least aware of the concept."

"I know what a hug is," Trevor snapped. "But that doesn't explain why the fuck you are giving me one."

That did not actually make Alucard let go of him; if anything, the hug got tighter. "You gave me your house. I am displaying my gratitude, that's all."

"Oh. That's...fine," Trevor grumbled, and he relaxed minutely into the embrace.

He was privately terrified of what he might feel if he relaxed all the way.
