Excerpt: "You want us to do what?" Antonio yelled.
Kotetsu shushed him and glanced around the tavern. It was nearly one in the morning and nobody else was downstairs, but still, it was nearly one in the morning. "Quiet! People are sleeping."
"Not here," Antonio said, but he lowered his voice. "Did you really tell Lapincourt that we'd rebuild his house for free?"
Nathan sat perched on one of the barstools and arched an eyebrow in Kotetsu's direction. "I really hope you didn't indicate that I would be helping."
"I didn't say who." Kotetsu opened another box they'd hauled in from the party and started putting the bottles of liquor back where they belonged. "I just said that we'd help."
Antonio crossed his arms over his massive chest. "For free."
Kotetsu gestured toward the town. "And how is that different from what we've been doing for the past ten years?"
"He's the baron," Antonio said.
"He still needs help," Kotetsu insisted. "That's what we do. We help people."
Antonio did not look convinced. "We help the villagers. It's not the same."
